mabuhay! I am Justine Aguilar, and today I’ll be performing Laboratory Experiment No. 1: Verification of the Combined Gas Law.
This experiment aims to demonstrate the relationship between pressure, volume, and temperature of a gas — which are the key variables in the Combined Gas Law.
For this experiment, I prepared the following materials:
Balloons
1.5-liter plastic bottles
Hot water (around 70–80 °C)
Ice water with ice cubes
Two basins (for hot and cold baths)
A thermometer
Procedure
First, I partially inflated a balloon—about the size of an orange—and carefully stretched it over the mouth of a 1.5-liter plastic bottle, ensuring that it was sealed tightly.
Next, I recorded the room temperature and noted the approximate size of the balloon.
After that, I placed the bottle in a basin of ice water. I left it for about 2 to 3 minutes and observed any changes in the balloon’s volume. Using a thermometer, I recorded the temperature of the cold bath and estimated the new balloon volume.
Then, I removed the bottle and allowed it to return to room temperature, recording any changes in the balloon’s size.
For the next part, I placed the same bottle in a basin of hot water with a temperature of around 70 to 80 degrees Celsius. After a few minutes, I observed that the balloon expanded. Again, I recorded the temperature and the new volume of the balloon.
To ensure accuracy, I repeated the process for three trials, recording all temperature readings and balloon volumes in a data table.
Dogs have excellent sense of smell that help them track different scents. These amazing abilities shows their natural hunting instincts. Dogs can detect smells up to thousand times better than humans, demonstrate their remarkable sensory capabilities.
