Marc Fraser Davis (March 30, 1913 – January 12, 2000) was an American artist and animator who was one of Disney's Nine Old Men, the core animators of Disney animated films. After his work on female heroine characters, Maleficent from "Sleeping Beauty (1959)" and Cruella de Vil from "One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1961)" he moved to Walt Disney Imagineering to work on rides for Disneyland and Walt Disney World before retiring in 1978. Walt Disney once said of Davis, "Marc can do story, he can do character, he can animate, he can design shows for me. All I have to do is tell him what I want and it's there! He's my Renaissance man."
Every one of these films we worked on had its own unique style, like 'Sleeping Beauty,' which Walt called a moving illustration. We meticulously stylized the drawing, even using live-action references to bring characters like Briar Rose to life, ensuring every detail captured the intended vision.
